Straight Talk Service
Review
Recently, I purchased a Straight Talk R451C Phone with a service card. I was originally skeptical the whole thing in general just because of the old “you get what you pay for saying”, but this service definitely surprised me.
There were a lot of pros about this phone service. There are five different plans. They include the All You Need ($30), Unlimited One Month ($45), Unlimited Three Months ($135), Unlimited Six Months ($270), and an Unlimited Year plan ($540). The All You Need includes 1,000 minutes-1,000 texts- 30 mbs of data for internet- Unlimited 411 calls. This talk, text, web, and 411 last for 30 days or until your phone runs out. The rest of the plans have unlimited talk, text, web, and 411 for the time you pay for. The type of plan you use depends on your personal phone usage, but even the unlimited plans calculate to be far lower than any of the other contact phone carriers. Straight Talk runs on Verizons network, meaning it has some of the best coverage out there, compared to other cheaper services such as Metro PCS. The phone also supports stereo Bluetooth for all of your file transfers and hands free devices!
Straight Talk was not perfect though. The first major problem many people will have with it is the limited number of phones available for the service, and the total lack of smart phones. As stated earlier, I have the R451C with the QWERTY slider keyboard, 1.3 mp camera, web access, and mp3 player ability. In an age where phones have touch screens, and do everything except pay the bills, this is a very lacking phone in comparison in terms of features. Another minor problem with the phone is that the internet is only good for email because it’s not 3g. Now I know what some of you are thinking, “A minor problem? Pshh I have to have youtube on my phone!” Well keep in mind; this is $45 dollars a month web service, so it can’t be expected to be top of the line. This having been my first phone, the biggest problem I had was with the phone itself. The ringer was almost silent even when I turned the volume all the way up and made my ringtone the head banging Thunderstruck. But at any rate, There are only, in my opinion, minor complaints about the phone and the pros far outweigh the cons. You won’t ever find another cell phone service that gets such good service for such a low cost.
Recap:
Pros:
· Good coverage
· Cheap price for any plan
Cons:
· Phones are lacking in selection and features
· Slow internet
